EMILE FAURIE SELECTED TO RIDE AT WEG 2018

The recent glittering form of Oxfordshire-based Emile Faurie has been formally acknowledged following the international dressage rider’s selection for Team GB at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina (USA) next month (12-15 September).

Seasoned professional Emile is no stranger to flying the flag for Great Britain has competed in two Olympic Games, three World Equestrian Games and six European Championships, earning a place on the British squad on an enviable 14 occasions.

Emile will be paired with Hof Kasselmann’s KG’s Dono Di Maggio, an 11-year old Oldenburg gelding he has been riding for the last 2 and a half years. However, such is the strength of Emile’s current fleet of horses, he has also been called up as Reserve for the team with Elena Knyaginicheva’s 14-year old Hanoverian stallion Delatio.

Commenting on his appointment, Emile said, “I am of course delighted to have been selected and able to join this amazing line-up that we have for this year’s WEG – Charlotte Dujardin, Carl Hester and Spencer Wilton. It is so exciting for Great Britain to be yet again field a very strong team and have the potential for group success.

Although Dono is relatively inexperienced at competing at this level he has an incredible temperament, which fills me with confidence. If all goes to plan I would honestly say that he is the best quality horse I have ridden at a Championships. These are exciting times for British dressage given that this is a discipline where the demands of the elite equine athletes mean that they often don’t make the cut for such a prestigious competition until they are generally much older, however, most of the Team GB horses competing at WEG are still relatively young. This paints a very positive picture for the future of the UK sport.”

Emile is based at Heath Farm, Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire and travels to Germany as and when required following his appointment as Training Supervisor and Rider with Hof Kasselmann.
